After wandering through Venice’s narrow streets and historic squares, stepping into this hands-on workshop felt like a breath of fresh culinary air.

Stepping into the venue, the Taverna San Trovaso restaurant, I was welcomed by the warm scent of flour, coffee, and something unmistakably Italian – that feeling of being instantly welcome. Aprons hung neatly, wine glasses caught the light, and strangers from different corners of the world smiled at each other with the same anticipation: we’re about to cook Italian food in Venice.

There’s something deeply grounding about making pasta by hand. Feeling the dough come together under your fingers, dusting the table with flour, laughing when it’s not perfect – it slows you down in the best possible way. And when you do this in Venice, surrounded by stories, accents, and glasses of wine clinking gently, it becomes more than a simple cooking class.

It becomes a shared moment.

🍝 Venice Pasta & Tiramisu Cooking Class- What to Expect: Step-by-Step description

Here’s how my class unfolded – and why it was so special:

  1. Gathering & Welcome

We met at the restaurant San Trovaso, not far from the Accadema Bridge. Soft chatter, excited glances, and Italian music set the tone.

Our host greeted us with warm Italian hospitality and a glass of wine,  just enough to relax us into the experience!

  1. Let’s Get Cooking!

The class begins with washing our hands and a short intro to ingredients and tools. Flour on the table, eggs ready, and all eyes on the chef as he explained the why behind every mix and fold.

We made:

  • Fresh pasta dough
  • Fettuccine & ravioli shapes
  • Tiramisu

We started with the tiramisu, as it needed to be in the fridge before eating. Then the pasta part came. Our hands got messy. Laughs were shared. Photos were taken nonstop. 📸

  1. Pour the Wine & Digest the Wisdom

While the pasta cooked, we enjoyed a glass (or two ) of local wine. The atmosphere was relaxed, international, and joyful. Our hosts were sharing Italian stories, like how the tiramisu was invented and more.

  1. Feast Time 🍽️

Then came the best part: eating what we cooked!

We started with the spinach-filled ravioli and continued with the fettuccine in a tomato sauce made by the restaurant’s local chef.

The pasta dishes were rich, warm, delicious, and paired beautifully with the wine. Dessert? Our perfect handmade tiramisu: creamy, coffee-soaked, and utterly divine.

  1. Post-Class Stroll

After the meal, a few of us stayed to talk, take photos, and plan where to explore next in Venice. The Dorsoduro streets called us – ancient buildings and hidden gems awaited.
